Yong Ying Woo   胡詠盈
Choreographer, Dancer, Performer and Cultural Educator.

Yong Ying Woo originally comes from Malaysia. She started dancing and grew her passion for dance from the age of 6. She started her training for ballet and soon also became involved with Chinese dance after encouragement from her family members. Yong Ying enrolled in a full time dance course after leaving high school at the National Arts, Culture and Heritage Academy (ASWARA) in Malaysia. During her time at ASWARA, she was exposed to an array of different dances and techniques including Malay classical and folk dance, Chinese contemporary and traditional dance, Indian dance, Malay martial art, Ballet, Contemporary and choreography which ultimately leads to her highly versatile and cultured character.

Yong Ying represented her school to perform in Padang, Indonesia in 2007. In 2008, she participated in the Bangkok Fringe Festival. Later in the same year, Yong Ying and her classmates represented Malaysia to promote culture and awareness in London.

Upon completion of her course at ASWARA, Yong Ying, seeking to advance herself further, came to Australia in 2008 and enrolled in a full time Dance Performance course at Dance World Studios Melbourne and expanded her dance skills with Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Flamenco, Lyrical and Tap among other dance styles. During her course, she has performed at some of the most recognizable theater in Melbourne including the National Theatre at St Kilda and Malthouse Theatre. She also toured New Zealand in 2009 with Dance World.

Yong Ying has since performed and choreographed at various events and locations including the 2010 Australian Dance Award at the Art Centre in Melbourne, the 2010 Australian Dance Card at Melbourne Town Hall, Buddha's Day performances at Federation Square among other events. Despite being a highly versatile dancer and performer, Yong Ying maintains a fondness for Chinese and Contemporary dances.

Yong Ying is currently taking on the role as lead choreographer for the Sabrina Dance Troupe, and has taken the group into new territories by combining traditional Chinese dance and contemporary dance styles.
