Wang Zheng Ting
Musician

Wang Zheng-Ting, an honorary research fellow at Monash University and lecturer on Chinese music at the University of Melbourne , graduated from Shanghai Music Conservatory and completed an MA in Ethnomusicology at Monash University, and a PhD in Ethnomusicology at the University of Melbourne Australia . He is the founder and director of the Australian Chinese Music Ensemble. In 2001 and 2007, he was invited by the City University of New York as a visiting scholar.

As an educator in 1998-2001 and 2008, he lectured on Chinese instrumental music at the University of Melbourne . As a soloist he has performed a recital at New York 's Lincoln Center as well as many recitals around the world ( London , New Zealand , Germany and Thailand ). He also performed at China Festival, in Amsterdam , Holland ; performed with Christine Sullivan's jazz band, Mara Jazz Band, Zydeco Jump and Women in Docs at the Shanghai International Spring Festival; performed with the Venice Chamber Orchestra, in Venice ; and performed at the University of Michigan . His performance lecture includes: Musikwissenschaftliches Institut der Universitat Basel , Switzerland ; Schweizerische Musikforschende Gesellschaft, Ortsgruppe, Zurich , Switzerland ; Universitat Mozarteum Salzburg, in Innsbruck and at Universitat Wien, in Vienna , Austria ; Tokai University , Japan ; Performance and Lecture at Tokyo University , Japan ; University of California Los Angeles . His book Chinese Music in Australia : Victoria , 1850s to mid -1990s was published in 1997. Many of his articles were published by international press which included Cambridge Scholars Press.
